Shakib cancels deal with Betwinner after BCB`s warning

Ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has decided to cancel the deal with Betwinner News following Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan's warning to cancel the deal with the sister concern of betting site Betwinner. 

Shakib has informed BCB this evening that he will cancel the deal with Betwinner today. Betwinner news, a news portal of the Dutch Caribbean island of Curacao-based gambling company.

"I just heard that he has given a letter (to the board),'' BCB President Said. ''I haven't read as yet...But I have learnt that he has agreed to all our terms and conditions. He said that he will do everything that we want him to do."

Shakib Al Hasan signed an ambassadorial agreement with Betwinner News. BCB President Nazmul Hasan Papon asked Shakib to cancel the contract with Betwinner unless BCB will not keep ties with him.

Papon came up with the warning while talking to the media on Thursday. Where he said," BCB will not keep any relationship with Shakib if he does not leave Betwinner."

The BCB, on Thursday (August 11), had issued an ultimatum to Shakib regarding his sponsorship deal with Betwinner News. The BCB had issued a letter to him to clear his stance on the controversial deal with the betting surrogate company that put his international career at risk.

Shakib had no choice but to cancel the contract with Betwinner if he wanted to play in the national team. So he told BCB about the cancellation of the contract this evening.

A few days ago, Shakib signed an official agreement with Betwinner News, a sister concern of Betwinner.

Betting is prohibited by Bangladesh law. BCB also has a ban on betting. Therefore, BCB has been telling Shakib to cancel this contract from the beginning. However, despite all this, it is known that Shakib is not willing to cancel the contract.
