Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said the roots of the Awami League that formed through movement and struggle are very deep in the soil and people of this country.

“No matter how many crises and conspiracies, Awami League will remain in this country. It will be in the soil and people of the country,” he said.

He said these things in reference to the threat of BNP leaders to occupy the highway in a briefing at Setu Bhaban in the capital on Wednesday.

Obaidul Quader said the threats of BNP are “not as loud” as they are in “reality”. The highway is not the property of any person or group, the highway is the property of the people, so it is the responsibility of the government to protect the property of the people.

He added that there is no use in threatening the Awami League leaders and activists by occupying the streets. Awami League came to the regime through “movement and struggle”. Awami League has the experience of struggling on the streets.

Warning the BNP leader, Awami League General Secretary said if they again choose the path of arson and violence in the name of occupying the highway, then for the sake of the safety of people’s life and property, they will be retaliated.

Earlier, China’s Ambassador to Dhaka Li Jiming paid a courtesy call on Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader at Setu Bhaban.
