Day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country while light to moderate rain or thundershowers is likely to take place in the next 24 hours ending tomorrow at 9 am, forecasted the country’s Met Office, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD), today.

The BMD weather bulletin issued on Thursday states that day and night temperature may fall slightly over the “southern part of the country” and “rise slightly” elsewhere over the country in the preceding 24 hours.

The light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to take place at “most places” over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at a “few places” over Rajshahi, Dhaka and Sylhet divisions during the period, the Met Office also said.

The BMD weather bulletin added that one or two places in Rangpur and Mymensingh divisions will witness “heavy to heavy downpours” at places over the southern part of Bangladesh.

“The Rainfall activity may continue for the next 72 hours,” the Met Office added in the outlook of the weather bulletin.

Meanwhile, BMD deputy director Meteorologist Md. Bazlur Rashid said in the synoptic situation of the weather forecast that the Well-marked Low over Chattisgarh and adjoining areas are now being lied over the central part of Madhya Pradesh and adjoining area as a “low-pressure area”.

“The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, the center of the Low, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across the central part of Bangladesh. As a result, one of its associated troughs has extended to Northwest Bay,” he also said, adding that the “monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and strong elsewhere over North Bay.”

The country’s maximum temperature was recorded at 33.7°C on Wednesday in the Sylhet district while Thursday’s minimum temperature was recorded at 23.4°C at Kutubdia in the Chattogram division.

Today’s sunset will be at 6:35 pm and tomorrow’s sunrise will be at 5:32 am.
