219 children have been killed in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. Another 405 people were injured. These children have lost their lives since the Russian invasion of this Eastern European country on February 24, reported Al Jazeera on Monday, citing the Ukrainian authorities.

“At least 219 children have been killed and 405 others injured in Ukraine since Russia launched its full-scale offensive on February 24,” says Ukraine’s prosecutor general’s office.

The office said in a telegram post that the highest number of children killed in the ongoing war was in the eastern Donetsk region of Ukraine. There were 139 children killed in the Russian attack. It was followed by 115 in Kyiv, 95 in Kharkiv and 68 in Chernihiv.

Meanwhile, 8 civilians were killed on Sunday in Russian military strikes in eastern Donetsk and Kharkiv regions of Ukraine, governors of the two regions were quoted by AFP as saying on Monday.

Among the four people killed in the Russian attack on Sunday, 8 were killed in Donetsk. They were killed in a Russian attack on the town of Lyman in the region. In a telegram, Donetsk Governor Pavlo Kyrylenko said: “4 civilians were killed in a Russian attack in the Donetsk region on Sunday. The dead were all from Lyman. Another 11 people were injured in the incident.”

He added that another man was injured and later died in a town near Lyman.

Kharkiv’s regional governor, Oleh Synyehubov, said in a telegram that three more people had been killed in attacks by Russian forces in and around Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second-largest city.

In his words, three people were “unfortunately killed” in the shelling. 8 more civilians were injured in the incident.
