The word ‘mother’ is a very small word, but there is no sweeter name in the whole world than the mother. This is the best word in the world; impeccable in the sense. There is a handful of affection, tenderness and genuine affection hidden in the word — ‘mother’. From birth to death, mother, a mother’s characteristics and love never change.

Mother’s Day 2022 is being celebrated in more than 50 countries on the second Sunday in May that falls on March 8, 2022.

Although Mother’s Day is a commonly honoured national holiday in the United States, it is neither a federal nor a public holiday. However, honouring mothers all over the world, the day is being celebrated and observed in different countries of the world. Although there is no set time for loving and respecting mothers, today is the day to remember them with deep affection.

Although World Mother’s Day is celebrated in ancient Greece, it was introduced in modern times by two outstanding women – Julia Ward Howe and Anna Jarvis – who are credited with establishing the concept of Mother’s Day in the United States.

When a woman named Anna Jarvis of the United States died in 1905, her daughter Ann Maria Reeves Jarvis sought to commemorate her mother’s work. That year, she first celebrated Mother’s Day at her Sun Day School. Each Sunday in 1907, Anna Maria explained the importance of a day for mothers in a school speech.

On May 8, 1914, the US Congress declared the second Sunday in May to be Mother’s Day. This is how the journey of Mother’s Day begins. Following this, Mother’s Day is being celebrated with dignity in hundreds of countries including Bangladesh, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Russia and Germany. However, due to COVID, no formality will be seen on this day. That is why no child will be stingy in picking up mother’s love on this day.

Due to COVID-19 for the last two years, there was no special formality in celebrating the day in Bangladesh. However, this time, Mother’s Day will be celebrated in Bangladesh as well as in different countries of the world with various arrangements.
