The Bangladeshi ship ‘MV Bangla Samriddhi’ with 29 Bangladeshi sailors was stranded at a port on the Black Sea coast of Ukraine. Hamidur Rahman, a Bangladeshi sailor and the ship’s third engineer, was killed in a Russian rocket attack on the ship.

Jamal Hossain Khan of Narsingdi district – son of late Farhad Hossain (Tara Mia) of Santanpara village in Danga UP of Palash upazila – was the sailor at the time of the rocket attack on the ship.

Jamal lived in Chattogram with his family. About two months ago, he sailed from Chattogram as a sailor on that ship. Jamal Hossain’s family, relatives and neighbors have been in a state of anxiety since the attack on Wednesday.

Confirming the matter, sailor Jamal Hossain’s younger brother Kanak Hossain said after receiving the news of the rocket attack on the Bangladeshi ship ‘MV Bangla Samriddhi’ in Ukraine, it has not been possible to find the elder brother even after several attempts since Wednesday.

Jamal Hossain’s family is spending their days in anxiety, Kanak Hossain ‍also said, adding that when he contacted the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation office, they said, “everyone else is fine”.

However, Jamal’s family in Bangladesh could not get any news about him, as a result, everyone in the family is spending their days in anxiety.
