Global COVID claims 2033 lives in a day

In the last 24 hours 766,560 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus worldwide while 2,033 people died from the pandemic.

Earlier on Wednesday, 512,145 COVID- 19 patients were detected while 1,455 deaths related to the disease were reported worldwide.

As of Thursday (18-08-2022), a total of 597,945,373 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 6,462,574 while 571,928,515 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data. 

The United states has topped the daily death toll. In the last 24 hours, the country has seen 461 deaths by Covid-19 and 87,108 virus cases, reporting a total of 1,064,207 COVID deaths and 95,065,403 infections.

The Worldometer data shows that Japan has reported 178,286 new coronavirus cases and 284 deaths during the last 24 hours. So far, the country has reported 35,655 deaths and 15,953,318 COVID cases.    

In the last 24 hours, 21,927 people have been infected with corona in Brazil and 246 people have died. Since the beginning of the corona epidemic, the  country reported 34,223,207 coronavirus cases and 682,074 deaths.

In Germany, 184 people died of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll by the virus to 146,214. Besides, the number of virus cases has exceeded  31,725,160 as 58,685 new cases were reported during the period in the country.

The coronavirus, which was first reported in China in 2019, affects 228 countries and territories worldwide.
