Highest daily cases logged in Japan, deaths in US

In the last 24 hours, 512,145 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus worldwide while 1,455 people died from the pandemic.

Earlier on Tuesday, 508,462 COVID- 19 patients were detected while 1,331 deaths related to the disease were reported worldwide.

As of Wednesday (17-08-2022), a total of 596,934,012 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 6,459,290 while 570,935,850 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data. 

The United states has topped the daily death toll and virus cases list. In the last 24 hours, the country has seen 262 deaths by Covid-19 and 54,190 virus cases, reporting a total of 1,063,087 COVID deaths and 94,869,936 infections.

The Worldometer data shows that Japan has reported 159,781 new coronavirus cases and 215 deaths during the last 24 hours. So far, the country has reported 35,371 deaths and 15,775,032 COVID cases.

In the last 24 hours, 23,040 people have been infected with corona in Brazil and 123 people have died. Since the beginning of the corona epidemic, the  country reported 34,201,280 coronavirus cases and 681,828 deaths.

In South korea, 37 people died of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll by the virus to 25,710. Besides, the number of virus cases has exceeded  21,502,164 as 84,128 new cases were reported during the period in the country.

The coronavirus, which was first reported in China in 2019, affects 228 countries and territories worldwide.
