In the last 24 hours, 402,270 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus around the world while 876 died from the pandemic. Russia has registered the highest number of deaths from the pandemic during the period. 

Earlier on Saturday, 565,631 COVID-19 patients were detected while 1,734 deaths related to the disease were reported worldwide. 

As of Sunday morning (15-05-2022), a total of 520,879,444 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus worldwide, as the death toll rises to 6,287,766 while 475,314,324 patients have recovered, according to Worldometers data. 

Russia has registered 107 deaths and 5,047 new cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of deaths to 377,571 and counting the overall caseload to 18,255,337 in the country due to the pandemic so far. 

Germany has seen the second-highest death toll of 98 in the last 24 hours, raising the death toll to 137,907. The total number of cases has exceeded 25,774,509 with 40,929 new infections. 

Italy has registered the third-highest death toll of 91 during the time. With this, the tally of fatalities from the pandemic has risen to 165,182 in the country. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 17,030,147 with 36,042 new cases. 

In Brazil, 90 more people have died from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 664,920. Besides, the tally of infections has surged to 30,682,094 as 17,355 new cases were confirmed during the period. 

The US has reported 26,740 new coronavirus cases, taking the overall caseload to 84,209,473. The death toll due to COVID-19 climbed to 1,026,646 with 55 people succumbing to the disease in a span of 24 hours. 

The coronavirus, which was first reported in China in 2019, is affecting 226 countries and territories around the world.
