At Gafargaon Railway Station in Mymensingh, passengers were unable to collect tickets at the time of the long queue. Many are collecting or returning from the black market with extra cost for not getting tickets from the counter. There has been such chaos in ticket sales due to the closure of two counters.
It is reported that the station master himself is selling tickets due to a manpower crisis. It was seen that one of the two counters is locked from inside. Tickets are being sold at slower speeds from other counters. In this case, the passengers’ line crossed the station to the rickshaw stand outside. On the counter, 10-15 helpless female passengers beside the male passengers standing in a separate line but are angry as not being able to reach the counter.
It has been reported that the booking assistant Rakibul Hasan is taking money from passengers where Station Master Harun-Ur-Rashid is printing the tickets and selling to the passengers. However, as computers and printers are very old, it takes a long time to print a ticket. So, tickets are being given in delay.
On the other hand, when the train arrives, many passengers collect tickets from outside by giving extra money due to the delay in giving tickets. Many people go back as they do not collect tickets.
Regarding this issue, Station Master Harun-Ur-Rashid said, “What can I do? There are three persons where we need six for the two counters. The three do the duty for 24 hours in an 8-hour shift. It is not possible for one to handle during rush hour. So I’m helping by keeping a counter off.”
