Water crisis in Akhaura Station

The pure water crisis has occurred at Akhaura Railway Station in Brahmanbaria. The situation due to unfit water supply presses including tubewells in the platform for some days.
Due to the cankered tubewells, train passengers, Railway employees, businessmen and the commuter are constantly suffering from lack of water for drinking, Wudu. Many are even buying bottled water with extra money.
There is a stopover for 20 intercity trains of Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, Noakhali and Mymensingh at Akhaura. With this, there is also mail and local trains stopover.
Every day thousands of commuters travel through this station to various places of the country, including Dhaka, by intercity, mail, and local trains. Tubewells and water supply presses are arranged in the platform area for the convenience of all, including the train passengers. But the tubewell has been damaged for several days. Along with that, the water supply system has become stagnant due to construction work in the station area
Normally people need more water. But people cannot get water to quench thirst as the tubewell are damaged, said passenger Lokman Hossain. “The shops do not provide water other than bottled water.”
Small businessman Suruj Mia said, “I have been doing business at the station for a long time. We have to suffer as the tubewell is damaged.”
Akhaura Railway Station Superintendent Md Khalilur Rahman said the water supply presses have been closed due to construction work at the station. “The tubewell is damaged due to overuse. But no one reported,” he added.
