Saudi opens all borders, resumes connection with Qatar
Saudi Arabia has been decided to open the air, land and sea borders with Qatar. The country has already opened the land border and is set to reopen its airspace and sea border. After almost three years, the decision has been in effect since Monday evening.
According to Al Jazeera, Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Ahmad Nasser Al Mohammad Al Sabah said on Monday that the decision to reopen the air, land and sea borders between Saudi Arabia and Qatar was made as per the proposal of the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah - Which has been in effect since evening.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt imposed various economic and diplomatic sanctions on Qatar in June 2016, accusing it of “supporting terrorism and having ties to Iran”. At the same time, all kinds of borders were shut down.
However, Qatar has denied the allegations since the beginning. Kuwait has been mediating between Qatar and Saudi Arabia and other disputing states.
