Rainfall activity may continue and is likely to increase in the next 72 hours or within three days, said Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) in a weather forecast issued on Monday.

The BMD weather forecast says “light to moderate rain or thundershowers” accompanied by a temporary gusty wind of (8-15) kph is likely to occur at many places over Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions while “moderately heavy to heavy falls” are likely to occur at few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.

Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country during the period, it added.

Meanwhile, the low over northeast Madhya Pradesh and adjoining areas have merged with the monsoon axis. The axis of the monsoon has troughed through Rajsthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across the central part of Bangladesh.

It is learned that one of its associated troughs has extended up to North Bay. As a result, the monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong over North Bay.

The country’s maximum temperature was recorded 35.3°C yesterday at Rajshahi district while today’s minimum temperature was recorded 25.5°C at Kutubdia in Chattogram division. Besides, the highest rainfall in the last 24 hours was recorded at 65 mm at Kutubdia.

Today’s sunset will be at 6:44 pm and tomorrow’s sunrise will be at 5:26 am.
