Power bill deadline extended

The time to pay the due electricity bill without penalty has been extended by one more month. Customers will be able to pay their due electricity bills for the three months of February, March and April by June 30 without penalty.

The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources came up with the information on Saturday.

It is said that due to coronavirus pandemic, it is not possible to make electricity bill by visiting the homes of many customers and seeing the meter readings. Considering the health protection of the consumers and power workers, the estimated bills are being made for the respective consumers considering bills of the previous month or the same period of the previous year.

If there is any discrepancy in the actual electricity consumption of the customer with the estimated bill or any discrepancy, it will be adjusted with the next month's bill. Under no circumstances will the customer have to pay more electricity bill.

The power department has requested to inform the concerned department if anyone has any queries or complaints about the electricity bill. At the same time, subscribers are urged to pay the bill via mobile banking services instate of banks.
