KU’s Fermineff wins in Int’l Theoretical Physics Olympiad

Five members of the Fermineff team who won first place in the country in the International Theoretical Physics Olympiad
The Fermineff team of Khulna University’s (KU) Physics Discipline has won first place in the country by participating in the International Theoretical Physics Olympiad. At the same time, the team has ranked 15th in the world.
The Fermineff team members are – Asif Iqbal, Tahsin Ahmed Atashi, Md. Naeem Rifat, Md. Labib Hossain Khan and Nawrin Nurain.
A total of 5 teams from this discipline participated in the competition – 3 of them have got success. Of these – Skyrmion ranks 2nd in the country and 16th in the world and Phoenix ranks 8th in the country and 23rd in the world.
It is learned that the International Theoretical Physics Olympiad is a competition designed by Ph.D. students and postdocs for undergraduate students interested in theoretical physics research. The goal of this Olympiad is to find people interested in theoretical science and to help students gain experience in modern research skills.
A total of 29 teams from Bangladesh including 5 teams from Khulna University’s (KU) Physics Discipline participated in this year’s Olympiad. The results of this Olympiad have been published recently.
The competition is jointly organized by several world-renowned universities such as the University of Santiago de Compostela, Stanford University, Princeton University, Johns Hopkins University, MIPT (Moskovskiy Fiziko-Tekhnicheskiy Institut), and UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles).
Meanwhile, the KU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mahmud Hossain congratulated the Fermineff team of the Physics Discipline for winning first place in the country in the International Theoretical Physics Olympiad.
In a message, he congratulated the champion Fermineff team and the other two successful teams and expressed hope that their success would continue in the future and Khulna University’s position in the international arena would be further strengthened.
