Jubo League expelled it's Dhaka Metropolitan (North) unit joint secretary general Tarequzzaman Rajib, who was detained by law enforcers on allegations of extortion and encroachment by terrorising people.

Jubo League General Secretary Harunur Rashid confirmed Rajib’s expulsion on Saturday night, immediately after his arrest in a raid on a house in Dhaka’s Bashundhara residential area.

The organisation expelled Rajib following its promise that it will expel anyone arrested on corruption or other charges in the ongoing crackdown, said Harunur Rashid.

Tipped-off, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) surrounded a House No. 404 on Road No. 8 at Bashundhara Residential Area in Dhaka on Saturday night and detained Rajib, also the councillor of ward No-33 under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), as part of the ongoing crackdown on casinos.

A foreign pistol, two rounds of bullets, several bottles of foreign liquor and Tk 43,000 were recovered in the raid on the seventh-floor flat. Later, the RAB conducted another drive on his home at Mohammadia Housing Society and office at Mohammadpur.
