Drug trader killed in Sonargaon gunfight with RAB

A drug trader has been killed in a gunfight with RAB at Sonargaon in Narayanganj. The gunfight took place while searching the checkpost at Chengrakandi on Dhaka-Chattogram highway on Wednesday morning.

The deceased — Hridoy, son of Sobuj Mia of Habibpur area of ​​Mograpara UP of the upazila. There are about 17 cases against him. 

Meanwhile, three people were arrested from the spot. The arrestees -- private car driver, Zahirul Islam Dollar, and Selim.

“During checking in the checkpost in Chengrakandi area of ​​Dhaka- Chattogram highway in the morning, duty RAB personnel gave a signal to Hridoy’s car but did not stop and started firing the RAB by opening the car window. During this, RAB also opened fire for self-defense,” said Jasimuddin, Additional SP of RAB-11.    

“Hridoy was the no.1 listed drug trader in Sonargaon Police Station. Police also announced a reward of Tk 10,000 for his arrest. 2 members of the RAB were also injured. The car was seized. A pistol, 2 rounds of bullets, 500 yaba, a machete, and 4 choppers were recovered from the spot,” he added.
