Biman to add two more aircraft next year
State-run Biman Bangladesh Airlines has decided to add two more modern aircraft to its fleet. Two new Dash 8-400 models will be added in January and February next year.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mokabbir Hossain confirmed the matter to Daily Bangladesh on Thursday.
He said Biman Bangladesh Airlines has bought three 74-seater Dash 8-400 models from renowned Canadian manufacturer De Havilland. The first of three aircraft purchased on a G2G basis between the governments of Bangladesh and Canada was added to the fleet on November 24. The second and third Dash 8-400 aircraft will be added to the fleet in January and February, respectively. The weekly frequency of flights to domestic and short-distance regional and international destinations will be increased by adding new aircraft to the fleet.
It is learned that the state-of-the-art new aircraft built by the famous Canadian aircraft manufacturer De Haviland has 74 seats, Highly Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter technology, which is environment friendly and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, completely purifies the air inside the aircraft by destroying bacteria, viruses and other germs in just 4 minutes. Which will make the journey more fresh and safe.
In addition, the aircraft will have more leg space, LED lighting and wide windows will make travel more comfortable and enjoyable.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines currently has 19 aircraft in its fleet. Of these, 14 are own and 5 are leased.
