Awami League general secretary and Bridge Minister Obaidul Quader said on Begum Fazilatun Nesha Mujib, “She handled the family by one hand and handled party on the other hand, during the long 12-year jail life of Bangabandhu. But she never comes out of the shadow. She had to perform behind the scenes. She was not just the wife of Bangabandhu, she is also his colleague and friend.”

He made the remarks at her burial place at Banani in the capital on Thursday, the 89th birthday of Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatun Nesha Mujib.

Obaidul Quader said, “Begum Fazilatun Nesha Mujib's birthday is one of the brave women of Bangladesh's history. She was born in August, her bloody farewell is also in August. We are here today to pay homage to her burial place with joy and sorrows”.

Flowers paid tribute at the grave of Fazilatun Nesha Mujib on behalf of the Awami League and other allied organizations. Later prayers and prayers were made for the peace of her soul, the welfare of the country and the nation.

Apart from Obaidul Quader, Information minister and Awami League’s Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr. Hasan Mahmud, Awami League Presidium Member and Lawmaker Matia Chowdhury and party’s Joint General Secretaries Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif, Advocate Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman, Organizing Secretaries Deputy Minister for Water Resources Enamul Haque Shamim and AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Central committee Member Marufa Akter is present on the birth anniversary.

Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatun Nesa Mujib, wife of Bangabandhu and mother of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was born at Tungipara village of Gopalganj district on this day in 1930.

She was assassinated brutally along with Bangabandhu and most of her family members on August 15, 1975.
