On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader wished Eid greetings to the countrymen and the Muslim world. He wished good health and incessant peace, progress and prosperity to the people of the world on Eid-ul-Fitr.

The Awami League General Secretary said in a statement that “Eid-ul-Fitr is one of the major religious festivals of the Muslim world. After a long month of fasting, the Holy Eid-ul-Fitr comes to us with a message of happiness and joy. Eid builds a bond of friendship, harmony and unity among people of all classes and professions.”

This year, Eid-ul-Fitr is taking place at a time when the whole world is affected by the pandemic coronavirus, he said. “Many of our family, friends and acquaintances are affected. Many of us have lost loved ones to coronavirus. Economic activity has come to a standstill…. at such a time the Holy Eid has come with a message of joy. Therefore, Eid should be celebrated at home with awareness, avoiding public gatherings.”

Obaidul Quader said, “Eid binds all people in the bond of equality, friendship and harmony. May the Eid-ul-Fitr, manifested in the spirit of friendship, harmony, sympathy and brotherhood, uniting us to overcome all the crises, including the global epidemic coronavirus.”

This year’s Eid should be celebrated peacefully through mutual brotherhood, social responsibility and responsible behavior practice and adherence to physical distance and hygiene rules in controlling the virus infection, he also said.

Emphasizing the world community should be filled with peace and prosperity in the glorious call of Eid-ul-Fitr, the party’s General Secretary said, “Let every human heart wake up in the flames of patriotism and humanity. Let us all share the happiness of Eid-ul-Fitr through cooperation and sympathy, irrespective of the rich and poor of the society, religion, caste, tribe, nation, group and community.”

“I pray to Almighty Allah, the Most Merciful, to get rid of the plague and misery from human life; May the world flow in the stream of happiness, peace and prosperity.”

Obaidul Quader expressed hope that under the skilled leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has overcome the crisis in the past, just as Bangladesh will overcome the COVID-19 crisis and move forward on the journey of desired development and prosperity.
